Submissions

DIE QUIETER PLEASE is a literary magazine. Our fifth issue, WHIRLING IN RAGS, is now open for submissions of short fiction and poetry.

We are looking for work that deals with ecstasy under duress, manic responses to adversity and idealised fixations with the past.

DQP 005 finds you WHIRLING IN RAGS, thrusting ribbons into a sunless sky. You are dancing in the shallow surf, car in neon flames behind you. The grey dunes look like slurry. The scant buildings are wrecked, and you drown the distant sirens with reggaeton. You, glittering in ecstasy. You, covered in bilge. You, a dancer in a past life? Yes—and everybody fancied you, that’s right. You look down at your severed legs. Goodness! They scuttle away into the rockpools, en pointe. Haven’t you made the most of things, despite it all?

Fiction should be no longer than 5,000 words. Send up to 5 poems.

Submit work to diequieterplease@gmail.com by Tuesday 18th August 2026.

PLEASE NOTE — We are a volunteer-run independent team with no external funding. As it stands, we can only afford to pay upfront fees for commissions, where we work closely with writers to realise a pre-determined piece. The work we choose to publish from the submissions pool will be compensated with a free magazine and drink at our launch party. We want to move towards a model where we can compensate every piece upfront, but to do this, we need to secure donations. If you’re interested in becoming a donor (one-off payments welcome) click here.
